1) I saw
This Is It today..finally.
Man, after what has happened this past week, I am an emotional roller-coaster.
I absolutely adored the film. Well..it wasn't really a film..more like..a documentary? Just a mash-up? Or scenes the world just really was desperate to see after his sudden death, to at least get some sort of feel of how it was going to be like, anything.
To me, this was fine as a concert. I was more than satisfied.
I loved how they made gaps and little silences after each song, to subconsciously make the audience clap. And it worked. I found myself heartily clapping and cheering like it was a real concert. :')
And Michael's whole perfectionism, his attention to detail, his
trying to correct the people's mistakes, but being too shy to (God Bless you, God Bless you!)...just what a misunderstood, good, man.
The Earth Song, and his speech, his thin, fragile voice had me in tears..this kind of "goodness" is too simple for the world to understand, without calling him disgusting names such as "sick" and "not right".
The show was magnificent, totally predictable in the aspect that it will be something totally surreal, and completely baffling in actually how surreal the show was, the magnitude.
I just love how the film showed the pure...well, goodness (in its most literal sense = opposite of evil) of Michael Jackson. So many people say that humble is used to describe him is a cliche made because he died - but ANYONE watching it would be totally convinced otherwise. He's almost...like a little white porcelain doll - pure, beautiful, fragile.
I cried, sang and danced all throughout. Great relief after those months of mournful waiting.
2) To continue on the subject of a more documentary-type movie, I watched
Vengo the other day. And..well. The raw emotion grasped me. To be honest, it kind of seemed to me that the actual plot itself wasn't so important to understanding the movie - sometimes I even didn't notice the plot. I began not even to care that much about the plot, I was completely enveloped into the music, the voices, the dances. I think the film was just a raw, uncut, hands-on, more documentary-type about the blend of Gypsy and African cultures in the massively diverse Andalucia. Not a documentary, like telling facts and stats, but letting the audience actually INTO the lives and events of the families. The music, the dances - a docu about flamenco as well. Just..such a raw, beautiful movie. If I were to talk about the music I would probably start a whole new post :)
Totally recommended to anyone who enjoys the amazing culture of the Gypsies.
3) I'm SO excited for
Nine. I mean, a cast consisting of Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench, Daniel Day-Lewis
and the goddess of Italian cinema, Sophia Loren? Talk about star-struck..
(All we needed more was Monica Bellucci or Audrey Tautou and my life would be complete.)(FERGIE?!?)This post will be concluded by the awesome, AWESOMELY talented Joe Anderson, from
Across the Universe, the 27 Club, Control, Silence is You, and you can now see him in Amelia
GUH BOAT!
